$60.00

Description

$60 (Members: $54) | How to evaluate your editorial skills | 2 lessons | Self-paced | Intermediate

As a freelancer, you don’t have a boss or coworkers giving feedback about your performance. If you work primarily for indie clients, your clientele may not even know what effective editing looks like. What if there are better ways for you to do your work?

In this self-paced class, you’ll learn the characteristics of effective editing, which includes but is not limited to “author produces a revision superior to the original ms.” Every editor edits differently, but some approaches produce better results than others and this class will help you understand why.

You’ll learn how to assess your own work by using self-assessment tools, asking colleagues to share effective practices, and soliciting feedback from clients. You’ll also learn how to read an author’s revision for clues to your own effectiveness. By the end of class, you’ll have learned the keys to evaluating your effectiveness as an editor and will have developed a plan to improve your outcomes.

The class is entirely online and asynchronous (you don’t have to be in any particular place at any particular time to participate).
