Advanced Point-of-View and Perspective for Writers
$50.00
Description
$50 (Members: $45) | How to immerse readers in a story through the effective use of point-of-view and perspective | 2 lessons | Self-paced
If you already know how to spot head-hopping and can explain why that first-person narrator is slowing down the pacing of a story (and what to do about it), this is the class for you!
This class is a deeper dive into how to understand perspective problems in fiction. The material goes past the surface-level issues to investigate the complex relationship between author-narrator-character and how authors can use the interplay of these elements to create a more meaningful and emotionally resonant story.
At the advanced level, we’re past the easy stage of obvious errors. The course examines how “James was looking at me” contains no perspective violation but “James spotted me” just might.
Recommended prerequisite: Understanding Point-of-View and Perspective for Writers.
The class is entirely online and asynchronous (you don’t have to be in any particular place at any particular time to participate).
